Morton’s BMW Presidents Ride
October 6 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm EDT
If you like history and riding, then this ride is for you! Virginia is rich in history, starting from our Colonial beginnings, war for independence, Civil War to present day. Did you also know that eight presidents were born in Virginia; three just east of Fredericksburg, two SE of Richmond, and three in the vicinity of Charlottesville.
Below is the list of five Presidents and their birthplaces near Fredericksburg and Richmond:
- James Monroe 4460 James Monroe Hwy, Colonial Beach
- George Washington 1732 Popes Head Rd, Colonial Beach
- James Madison 9221 Belle Grove Rd, King George
- John Tyler 10920 John Tyler Memorial Hwy, Charles City County
- William Henry Harrison, 12602 Harrison Landing Rd, Charles City County
The planned route will avoid interstates and take scenic roads and by-ways. We will briefly stop at each location for photo ops and bio breaks as needed. We will stop for lunch in Tappahannock.
Here’s the schedule:
8:30 – Meet up at Morton’s BMW
8:45 – Riders briefing
9:00 – Sidestands up
Ensure your bike is mechanically sound, is fully fueled, and you are prepared to ride. For a large group, we will break up into smaller groups of 4-5 riders. If you are an experienced group rider and can assist in leading a small group, let the ride host (Jose C Abiles) know. Here is an overview of the ride distance and timeline:
- James Monroe – 40.5 miles; 1:03 hrs
- George Washington – 9.3 miles; 0:13 mi
- James Madison – 16.3 miles; 0:22 min
- John Tyler – 95.1 miles; 2:02 hrs

Estimating 10-15 minutes at each site and about one hour for lunch, total ride time is about six hours. To join the ride, please sign up on meetup.com.
